In Defence of Genetic Engineering From the Perspective of Naturalistic Fallacy Argument

Jerry Obi-Okogbuo

Abstract

In the fields of agriculture, medicine, industry, and marine environment; genetic engineering has yielded immense benefits too numerous to mention. These benefits are summed up in three beneficent themes: “Heal the World”, “Fuel the World” and “Feed the world.”1 Despite its fruits, triumphs, and successes, genetic engineering is viewed with some negatives attitudes of suspicion, fear and as contrary to nature. These attitudes constitute the major existential challenges facing the new science. This paper is therefore aimed at examining the nature of the challenges with a view to appreciating the import of genetic engineering.
